Katherine Heigle's Park City Nuptials

Katherine Heigl, Josh Kelley

Emmy winner Katherine Heigl swapped vows with musician Josh Kelley in Park City Utah in a ceremony that she later described as both "incredible and beautiful" (Eonline). They were joined for the 30 minute ceremony by a small gathering of friends, and almost no celebrities. Grey's Anatomy costars Sandra Oh, and TR Knight, as well as Kate Walsh, from ABC's Private Practice.
They were engaged only a year after Heigl appeared in his music video, "Only You". And in 2005, he wrote "Katie's Song" as an ode to his bride to be. The couple didn't take any chances though, "We've talked a lot about it," Heig's told Extra, "like, 'Are you having second thoughts here?' And he's like, 'No, I'm so ready for this,'.
She wouldn't give details of the whereabouts of their honeymoon, only to say, ""going to a beach, somewhere beautiful and romantic."

Bride in toilet paper dress to tie the knot

Designer Hanah Kim shows off the wedding dress she created out of toilet paper. A Kentucky bride will wear her own version of the dress at a marriage ceremony today in a public restroom in New York's Times Square.

NEW YORK—Here comes the bride, all dressed in white … two-ply, extra soft toilet paper.

Lovebirds Jennifer Cannon and Doy Nichols of Lexington, Ky., plan to get hitched today in a public restroom. She'll be wearing a gown fashioned from glue, tape and Charmin Ultra Soft and Ultra Strong toilet tissue.

The intricately detailed dress was designed by Hanah Kim, winner of the 2007 Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest, sponsored by Cheap-Chic-Weddings.com.

The wedding ceremony, to be attended by family and friends, will take place in Times Square at the Charmin Restrooms — temporary, free public restrooms, a company spokeswoman said yesterday.

Inject Razzle Dazzle Into Your Wedding

In the stampede to put their inimitable imprint on weddings, brides, their mothers and wedding planners are going beyond the traditional wedding bands and D.J.s to bring in increasingly extravagant and often surprising Broadway and Hollywood-style entertainment to spice up their affairs.

Nicky Reinhard, an owner of David /Reinhard Events in New York (davidreinhard.com), which organized the de Kwiatkowski-Gilardini celebration, said that brides were now looking to “add a little twist, a little excitement, a little pick-me-up” to their wedding receptions. That has included, at one cavernous party space in New York, Cirque de Soleil-style performers suspended from the ceiling.

Razzle-dazzle moments are punctuating even otherwise unassuming affairs. Some have employed strolling magicians to do sleight-of-hand during cocktails; others have used rolling human dessert tables to add a startling live dimension to the traditional cake. And during the increasingly popular wedding after party, cigar rollers and air-brush tattoo artists add pizazz.

Brides.Com Top Ten Celebrity Proposals

1. Jacqueline Bouvier and John F. Kennedy: After meeting at a Georgetown
dinner party in May 1951, John F. Kennedy proposed in the spring of
1953 right before Jackie was sent on assignment in Europe with the
Washington Times-Herald. She smiled and said she would give an answer
soon. While away, she received a note from the future President
saying "articles excellent but you are missed." Upon returning home,
she was greeted with a diamond-and-emerald engagement ring.

2. June Carter and Johnny Cash: Love bloomed where they both felt most
at home. In 1968, Johnny proposed onstage during a concert, leaving
many in the audience wondering if it was simply part of their
notorious repartee. Garth Brooks copied the Man in Black when
proposing onstage to fellow musician Trisha Yearwood in 2005.

3. Grace Kelly and Prince Rainer: In late 1955, the Prince proposed
through his friend Father Tucker, who came to America to ask Grace
for her hand in marriage on behalf of the Prince -- a royal custom by
which a Prince doesn't arrange his own marriage. The Prince later
presented her with a 12-carat emerald-cut diamond engagement ring.

4. Seal and Heidi Klum: The singer proposed to his model-girlfriend two
days before Christmas, 14,000 feet above sea-level in British
Columbia, on a glacier, in an igloo built especially for his
proposal.

5. Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles: Though he proposed three weeks
earlier at a private, candlelit dinner at Buckingham Palace before
she left on a trip to Austria, the official announcement came on
February 24, 1981. He intended to have her use the trip to think
about the proposal, but she accepted immediately. He presented
her -- and they presented the press -- with an 18-carat sapphire
engagement ring surrounded by diamonds.

6. Nick Cannon and Selita Ebanks: After leaving the Metropolitan Museum
of Art Costume Gala, he took her to Times Square in a chauffeured
Rolls Royce where he presented her with a 12-carat diamond ring and
pointed to the MTV jumbotron where the words, "Selita will you marry
me?" were projected.

7. Courtney Cox and David Arquette: Never to let anyone outshine him,
David proposed on a beach in Florida and arranged to have a fireworks
display go off the precise moment that he planned to pop the
question.

8. Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman: The music executive groom
proposed to his songbird bride in a room filled with flowers,
balloons and a stack of gift boxes, each of which contained a
different gift and poem; the last box had the ring.

9. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes: In a press conference following his
proposal, Tom gave the details of his early-morning Eiffel Tower
offer of marriage to the Dawson's Creek starlet. Before their
midnight trip to the French landmark, the two shared a candlelit
dinner at Le Jules Verne restaurant.

10. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe: The young couple was reportedly
engaged on vacation in South Carolina when he proposed to her in late
1998 over a breakfast in bed of strawberries and cream.

The Santa Clara Wedding Chapel

For some it is the need to be documented, before the actual wedding celebration someplace else, for others it is the convenience and low price, whatever the reasons, many come here to this small county chapel in Santa Clara to tie the knot. "We see diversity of culture, age, maturity, and motive" says Karen Casarella, one of a dozen or so employees, that officiate ceremonies at "ten minute" intervals, four days a week.
"I used to be in tax collections. This is much better," says Julie Hughes, an officiant who's been performing weddings for the county for nearly seven years.
And no matter the discounted price, the ceremony is given it's due reverence. Some bring flower girls, and music, gang members line up with tattooed foreheads, baggy pants and bandannas, Casarella says once she performed a ceremony at Santa Teresa Hospital, with a terminally ill patient, with IV tubes covered by his street clothes. "He died a few days later". Once, Hughes recalls seeing a familiar look in a woman's eyes as she stood at the altar, she leaned in and asked, 'you're having contractions now aren't you?" "Yep" the woman replied. Hughes, calmly sped up the service.

Babette's formal wear store in Bridgeville will give away wedding gowns.

For some women this holiday season, the ideal gift is not electronic -- or even diamond.

It is the stuff of Cinderella's dreams: a wedding gown.

Weddings are notoriously expensive; so are the gowns. For women dreaming of getting married with a traditional ceremony but who need help making ends meet, Babette's Inc., a formal wear store on 384 Carol Ave., Bridgeville, is offering a chance for a free gown. There will be 60 lucky women.

For three days next week, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Babette's will give away 20 wedding gowns each day to the first 20 women arriving at the store that day. Because this opportunity is meant to help those most in need, to quality, women must be receiving welfare benefits. Women are required to present their electronic benefits transfer, or EBT, card, issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, and photo identification.

The 60 lucky brides-to-be (20 each day) can select any gown from the store's inventory. Dresses on the racks there can cost up to $2,500 retail.

"People are stretched financially thin this time of year," said store manager, Elizabeth Kubicek. "This opportunity makes a difference in many people's lives." Read More...

Lomography For You Wedding Photos

Couples around the world are abandoning traditional style of wedding photography in favor of more expressive forms of marital depiction, including photojournalistic style wedding shoots, TTDs, and more recently, lomography. Inspired by the state run Russian camera maker LOMO, they were designed for-- hmm, why were they made? In any event, with a plastic lens and somewhat leaky, (from all reports) lens casing, images from the camera are often softer and more saturated. Under certain conditions, light can even leak through the barrel, to create a vignette effect. Check out some of these images from Award winning photographer Lito Sy. Something like this would really compliment traditional wedding photos well. For more pics, check out Lito Sy's website.

Pnina Tornai at Kleinfeld's

Seventeen years ago, with no formal fashion training, designer Pnina Tornai abruptly decided to shut down her clothing boutique in Tel Aviv, hire a seamstress, a beader a and a patternmaker, and begin designing and producing wedding gowns. Today, she can hardly walk down the street in without being approached by adoring fans. "I can't walk down the street!" she says, " I wear sunglasses, but peeople rush up to hug me".
Known for provocative see through corsets, and glittery Swaroviske crystal detail, Pnina Tornai's wedding gowns range from the ethereal to the dramatic. "Acting and fashion design have a lot in common, Tornai says. "It's all about acting and drama". Her designs weren't always appreciated here in America however. "Her designs were kind of questionable," recalled Mara Urshel, a co-owner of Kleinfeld, of her first visit to the famed department store. "There were lots of sheers. I couldn't possibly think of a place where anyone would wear them except in the home." She decided however to showcase a lace corset model, which surprisingly "sold and sold and sold". Today she is the number one designer at Kleinfeld, and she is considering opening stores in London, Paris, and Los Angeles. "I don't want to grow too much" she says however, "I don't want to lose that persoal touch." You can check out Tornai's designs at Kleinfeld's (by appointment) located at 110 West 20th Street New York, NY, 10011.

Chris Evert Engaged to Greg Norman

Former tennis champ and 70s heartthrob Chris Evert and Golf Pro Greg Norman announced their engagement on Friday, although the couple haven't given details. Both are hot off the heels of recent splits; Evert from husband of 18 years, former tennis star Andy Mill, and Norman from Laura Andrassy. Green Weddings Gain Popularity

With the rise in environmental awareness that has followed such films as the Al Gore narrated, (and Academy Award winning) "An Inconvenient Truth", couples are deciding to incorporate an eco-friendly agenda into their wedding ceremonies as well.
Green Weddings may include everything from amusements such as hikes and environmental tours at organic farms to using bouquets and arrangements with seasonal flowers and berries from local vendors, rather than using fossil fuels to transport flowers from faraway farms.

“It’s well worth it to start your life together in a way that’s in line with your values and beliefs,” said Ms. Harrison (pictured left) a 28 year old graduate student at Yale, who is to marry in October.

For Money Or Love?

According to a new survey released by Prince&Associates, a Connecticut based wealth research firm, a growing number of both men and women are willing to marry for assets, rather than love. The survey indicates that the average "price" demanded by both sexes these days is $1.5 million. According to the Wall Street Journal, the survey sites a Craigslist personal posted this summer, in which a woman who describes herself as "fantastically beautiful", wrote that she sought a man making at least, $500,000. She tried dating men earning $250,000, but, according to her, that wasn't "getting me to Central Park West". An investment banker responded, sayiong that since his money was likely to increase in value over time, while her beauty "faded", the offer "didn't make good business sense". What do you think? For money or for love???
